Shannon Kessler Dooley – soprano
Known for her lyricism and expressiveness, Shannon Kessler Dooley’s most recent operatic credits include; Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus with Opera Wilmington, Cio Cio San (Madama Butterfly) with Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, Opera Theater of Connecticut, First Coast Opera, and Erie Chamber Orchestra, Biancofiore cover (Francsca da Rimini), Alice cover (Le Comte Ory) with The Metropolitan Opera, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Erie Chamber Orchestra, Mimì (La Bohème) with Opera Theater of Connecticut, Narcissa (Philemon and Baucis) with the Spoleto Festival USA, Sister Constance (Dialogues of the Carmelites), Almirena (Rinaldo), Nannetta (Falstaff), Frasquita (Carmen), Lucia (Rape of Lucretia), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro, youth performance ) with Pittsburgh Opera, Marzeline (Fidelio), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Utah Opera, Micaëla, (Carmen) with Opera Theater of Pittsburgh. Concert credits include soprano solos in the Messiah, Peer Gynt, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Mozart Requiem, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass , and Ravel’s Sheherazade, Schubert Mass in G, with Utah Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Asheville Symphony, Erie Chamber Orchestra, Long Bay Symphony and Wilmington Choral Society. In 2022 Ms. Dooley had the pleasure of debuting two new operatic roles, Violetta with First Coast Opera, and Musetta with North Carolina Opera. Ms. Dooley had the privilege of debuting the role of Tosca with Opera Wilmington this past July.
Martha Bartz – mezzo soprano
Martha Bartz is in demand as a mezzo-soprano classical concert and oratorio soloist, solo recitalist, cabaret performer and opera principal. Ms. Bartz has appeared on the opera, oratorio, cabaret and recital stages from Carnegie Hall to The Green Room 42 and Middle C Jazz and from Maine to Florida, South Dakota to North Carolina and beyond! Martha was a past winner of the Classical Singer convention in New York City (musical theater) and the NYC NATS competition and finalist in the International Lotte Lehmann Cybersing competition.
Recent performances include Mezzo Soloist in Dvorak’s Stabat Mater and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in New Jersey and Multiple Solo Cabaret performances in NYC, Charlotte, and Chicago. Martha is thrilled to be back with the 4K Quartet in her alto role for many performances this year!
Dr. Mory Ortman – tenor & piano
Dr. Mory Ortman works as a Music Director and free-lance musician in New York City, where his work includes accompanying and performing in the most prestigious venues with the highest-level music professionals. He frequently accompanies auditions and coaches main stage Opera and Broadway performers. In addition, Mory is on the coaching faculty at Montclair State University.
Dr. Ortman has been a principal accompanist for Manhattan Concert Productions for over twenty years. MCP is a company dedicated to excellence in music for the most qualified arts organizations in the US, providing the opportunity for these ensembles to perform at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center and other prestigious stages across the country. Dr. Ortman also sings in and accompanies the Manhattan Chorale, a professional choral ensemble affiliated with the organization.
Mory has a strong knowledge of musical styles and is equally comfortable in the classical, cabaret, and musical theatre realms. His versatility keeps him in high demand as a recitalist and accompanist throughout the greater New York City area and beyond. Summer finds Dr. Ortman working at Quisisana Resort in Maine where he serves as the Music Director of the classical program and accompanist to the musical theatre programs. The resort produces a combination of opera, musical theatre, cabaret and chamber music and is renowned for the high caliber performances presented.
John Dooley – baritone
Baritone John Dooley has been praised by The Wall Street Journal for his “warm, supple baritone.” His versatile comedic and “confident, even swaggering, stage presence.” He is an in demand crossover performer in opera, musical theatre and concert repertoire.
Mr. Dooley can be heard as Badger the Miner on the 2019 Grammy® Award winning Best Opera Recording of Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr. Fox with Boston Modern Orchestra Project recorded by BMOP sound. He originated the role of Lysander in Michael Ching’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream: opera a cappella with Opera Memphis/Playhouse on the Square (recorded on Albany Records). He joined the New York Philharmonic in the Emmy® Nominated, Live from Lincoln Center production of Carousel.
