We have some exciting opportunities to get involved with to make a difference.

Partnering with SOIIF Food Pantry – We’re teaming up with the SOIIF Food Pantry in Boiling Spring Lakes to help our community.
Saturday, September 28: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. (3 volunteers needed)
Thursday, October 17: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. (5 volunteers needed)
Important note: If you need to cancel, please notify the Food Pantry two days in advance. And don’t forget your church name tag!

Card Making Workshop – Sat., Oct. 26, 10:30 a.m. – Noon.  Birthday cards will be made which can be shared with nursing home residents who would like to send cards to family and friends but are unable to get out and shop for them. This is a great opportunity for families to work on a project together.

Purses for Zambian Girls – Thursday, Oct. 17, 9:00 a.m. Volunteers are invited to help with a special project, making purses for some Zambian girls in Africa.
In Zambia it’s the common cultural practice in both poor urban and remote village areas that girls stay home when they menstruate. This is because they don’t have a reliable product solution that they can afford. So to avoid the risk of social embarrassment – they simply stay home.
Disposable products are not the solution because there is no garbage collection and the cost is an impossible barrier to overcome. A well-made reusable product that replaces their traditional method is the best solution.
When girls receive a purse they take The Sew Powerful Pledge – and promise to stay in school all month if they receive a purse filled with supplies. We ask seamstresses around the world to help support the program by making the most amazing and beautiful purses – because the girls deserve the best. The purse is the perfect delivery method for the pads, soap, and underwear. If you have a portable sewing machine, please bring it to this meeting. We will have precut fabric and directions for the purses. Come and create for others, while sharing time with friends. We can share machines, so don’t worry if you don’t have a sewing machine. This project will be facilitated by Jane Henderson and Ardene Noss.
