SPC to Hold a Blessing of the Animals Oct. 6

Southport Presbyterian Church invites all scaled, feathered and furry friends to a “Blessing of the Animals” worship service on Sunday, October 6 at 2:00 PM. “We will gather around music, prayer and the Word, and begin blessing the animals at 2:10 p.m.,” said Paster Carrie Evans. Each animal will be blessed by name, given a blessings charm for their collar and a certificate. The service will be held outside in the labyrinth garden and will be brief to accommodate varying attention abilities. All pets are welcome and should be properly restrained with leashes or carriers. If pets cannot attend, owners are welcome to come and bring a favorite picture or their pet’s collar to have blessed in their place.
