The two SPC $2,500 scholarships for Brunswick Community College (BCC) will be awarded annually with one named in memory of SPC deceased member Reita Cockrell, a long-time employee of BCC; and the second named in honor of SPC member Lena Fisher who also was long-time employee of the college. BCC President Gene Smith and Foundation Executive Director Teresa Nelson accepted the check from Bob Lambert, SPC Mission Ministry Chair.
BCC Scholarships are established through gifts to the Foundation from donors like SPC. The Foundation’s committee awards scholarships to students based on the criteria specified by the donor and in conjunction with Foundation policies. Criteria for SPC’s scholarships includes financial need and a high school GPA of at least 2.5.
All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to completing the universal scholarship application. The universal scholarship application period begins on March 1 and ends at midnight on May 31.
