An “Update on the War in Ukraine” will be presented by Dr. Susan McCaffray on Mon., Feb. 13, 6:00 pm in the sanctuary at Southport Presbyterian Church (SPC). The presentation, open to the public at no charge, is a follow up to her talk last year at SPC that explored Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stated reasons for his invasion of Ukraine and examined the historical roots of both countries.
Dr. McCaffray retired from UNCW in 2019 as Professor of Russian and European History. She is an author of several books and articles on the history of Russia, the Soviet Union and the Donbass, a centerpiece of the current war in Ukraine. Her academic appointments include Professor Emerita, Professor and Chairperson, UNCW Department of History, Assistant Professor at Wake Forest and Marquette Universities and Instructor at Duke and North Carolina State Universities. Dr. McCaffray holds a Doctorate and Master of Arts from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts from The College of Wooster in Ohio.
